eSnipe vs SeeSpotBid: a fair comparison for eBay buyers

SeeSpotBid calls itself "the best companion app for eBay power users". Its FAQ says three things set it apart: "fast searches, lots of search criteria, and automatic support for both newly-listed items and expiring items." The second and third are the real story. You set up saved searches with keywords, price, category, condition, minimum seller rating and more; its servers watch eBay; and you get a push notification when a Buy It Now item appears, a new auction is listed, or an auction you would want is about to end. Version 3, released in January 2026, added seller follow and exclude lists, Best Offer only, Worldwide and US-only filters, multi-device push and a dark mode.

eSnipe is narrower and faster. It watches public eBay search results, sends a message the moment a matching listing appears, and delivers it to a Discord channel via webhook or to your phone through its iOS and Android app. Every monitor checks at a one-minute interval, there is no cap, and it is free, funded by the eBay Partner Network. It does not bid, snipe or buy, and never asks for an eBay login.

The choice comes down to how much you value depth of criteria and ending-auction alerts against how much you value interval and volume.

SeeSpotBid's FAQ is direct about its intervals. "For free users: every hour. For PRO users: every 10 minutes." Asked whether anything faster is available, it answers: "No, sorry. We have to manage our server responsiveness and the number of daily calls we are allotted into the eBay API." The homepage phrases the same limit as "updates as quickly as every 10 minutes". Confusingly, the App Store's in-app purchase list still shows "Five Minute Searches" items alongside ten-minute ones; the FAQ is the more recent and explicit statement, so treat 10 minutes as the working ceiling until the app tells you otherwise.

eSnipe's fastest check interval is one minute on every monitor, and most alerts arrive within about 15 to 45 seconds of a listing going live. That is ten times shorter than SeeSpotBid's PRO interval and sixty times shorter than its free one. For slow-moving categories an hourly or ten-minute check may be perfectly adequate, and SeeSpotBid's own FAQ notes that a listing can already be sold between its servers finding it and you opening the app. For underpriced Buy It Now items that vanish in minutes, the interval is decisive, and eSnipe is the one built for that.

The homepage also carried a notice on the day we read it: "We are aware of the current issue with slow searches." That is worth checking before you subscribe.

SeeSpotBid is free to use with 10 saved searches checked hourly. PRO, listed on the App Store at $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year, brings "faster searches (10 mins), more search slots (50), multi-phone support, and the ability to disable Quiet Hours". A further 25 search slots cost $19.99 as a one-off purchase. When a subscription lapses, searches drop back to hourly and any beyond the 10 free slots are paused. The v3 page says the old "Fast Search" subscription has become PRO and that pricing did not change with the rewrite. Subscriptions auto-renew.

eSnipe has no tiers, no slots and nothing to renew. It is funded through the eBay Partner Network, which pays a commission when a purchase follows an alert link; the price you pay on eBay does not change. SeeSpotBid discloses the same affiliate relationship on its homepage and additionally states it is "a proud member of the eBay Developers Program". Neither app is affiliated with or endorsed by eBay.

At $2.99 a month PRO is inexpensive, and for a buyer who wants seller-rating filters and ending-auction alerts it is good value. What it does not buy is speed beyond ten minutes or an unlimited watch list.

SeeSpotBid's criteria are the deepest of any app in this series. Saved searches can filter by price, condition, category, minimum seller rating, BIN versus auction, Best Offer only, Worldwide or US only, and can search title and description together. Version 3 added dedicated follow and exclude seller lists, quick seller blocking from a listing page, a postal code per search for shipping estimates, and search frequencies from 10 minutes up to 24 hours. Its "Automatic" sort combines auctions ending soonest with Buy It Now newly listed to surface the lowest available price. Negative keywords are not mentioned anywhere on its site or listings; seller exclusion is the closest thing.

eSnipe filters each monitor by price range, condition, listing type (auction or Buy It Now) and negative keywords. It has no seller-rating filter, no seller lists, no category picker and no ending-soon alerts. Where it is stronger is the explicit per-monitor negative keywords, which are the noise control most resellers reach for first, and a web dashboard where a long list of monitors is easier to manage than on a phone screen.

SeeSpotBid sends push notifications through its iOS and Android app and, since version 3, to several devices at once. The notification text says whether the alert is a new BIN listing or an ending auction. Quiet Hours are built in and PRO subscribers can turn them off. Email, SMS and Discord are not listed.

eSnipe delivers to a Discord webhook, chosen per monitor so each search can post into its own channel, and to phone push through the eSnipe app on iPhone and Android. There is no email, SMS or quiet-hours setting. For a group that shares finds, a Discord channel everyone can watch and react to is something SeeSpotBid does not offer.

Both apps keep your eBay login out of it. SeeSpotBid's homepage says "Your eBay login credentials aren't used, so they stay safe", and its App Store description says "No eBay account required"; you buy through a link to eBay. It offers an optional SeeSpotBid account (email and password) to recover your watch list on a new phone. eSnipe reads public eBay search results and never asks for eBay credentials. Neither app bids or buys on your behalf.

On track record, SeeSpotBid's founding year is not listed, but its App Store page showed version 3.1.3 from 9 July with a 4.6 rating from 148 ratings, its site names Kaverk LLC, and it offers "free US-based support for all users". That is a longer visible history than most apps in this category.

The two overlap less than they appear to. A reasonable split is to keep SeeSpotBid for the searches where seller rating, category or an ending-auction reminder matters and ten minutes is fast enough, and to put anything time-critical on eSnipe, where a one-minute monitor costs nothing and can land in a Discord channel. Because eSnipe is free and uncapped, running it alongside a SeeSpotBid subscription adds no cost.
