eSnipe vs Dealerts: a fair comparison for eBay deal hunters

Dealerts' pitch is "Be first to every new eBay listing." It "watches your saved searches around the clock and pushes the new listing to your phone the moment it goes up", and the site is aimed squarely at collectors, resellers and bargain hunters who already know what a well-built eBay search looks like. Its distinctive features are speed you can pay for per search, eBay's full operator syntax, a Test button that runs a search against live results before you save it, and a start and end time for each search so your money-makers run all day and your long shots tick over slowly.

eSnipe is a free eBay alert service rather than a phone app with a paid tier. It watches public eBay search results, sends a message the moment a matching listing appears, and delivers it to a Discord channel via webhook or to your phone through its iOS and Android app. Every monitor checks at the same one-minute interval, there is no cap on how many you run, and it never asks for an eBay login or a card. It does not bid, snipe or buy.

The choice is between a sharper tool for a small number of searches and a broader net for a large number of them.

Dealerts is explicit: "As fast as every 30 seconds on a paid plan, or every minute on the free one. You set the speed per search, and how many searches you can run at each speed depends on your plan." Its App Store version history dates the 30-second option to version 2.12.0 in February. The site's example screenshots show searches running every minute, every 5 minutes and every 15 minutes, which is the intended pattern: put the searches that make you money on the fastest setting and leave the rest slow.

eSnipe's fastest check interval is one minute on every monitor, and most alerts arrive within about 15 to 45 seconds of a listing going live. That matches Dealerts' free tier and trails its paid tier. Whether 30 seconds versus 60 changes outcomes depends on the item; for anything that sells within seconds of listing, both apps are polling services and neither publishes independent benchmarks. If you are chasing that kind of item and want every edge, Dealerts' paid searches are the faster option on paper.

Dealerts' site says there is "a free version on both iPhone and Android, and paid plans that raise your search limit and run your searches faster", and points to the store listings for prices. The App Store lists in-app purchases of 1 Premium Search for $3.99, 2 for $7.99, 3 for $14.99, 4 for $19.99 and 5 for $24.99; Google Play shows a $3.99 to $24.99 per-item range. The billing period is not stated on the store page. The free tier's search count is not listed either; the FAQ says it "gives you enough to get started". Version notes for 2.14.0 say "Wind down cashback", so an earlier cashback feature should not be relied on.

eSnipe is free with no tiers, no premium searches and no trial. It is funded through the eBay Partner Network, which pays a commission when a purchase follows an alert link; the price you pay on eBay is unchanged. eSnipe is not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay, and neither is Dealerts, which says so in its footer.

The arithmetic depends on how many fast searches you need. Five 30-second searches on Dealerts cost $24.99; twenty one-minute monitors on eSnipe cost nothing. If a handful of searches justify the faster interval, Dealerts' per-search pricing is fair. If you want breadth, eSnipe's zero is hard to argue with.

This is where Dealerts is strongest. It "takes eBay's full search syntax" and documents each operator: a space matches both words, parentheses match either, quotes lock an exact phrase, a minus sign excludes a word, -( ) excludes several, a plus sign requires a word, and @1 matches at least one of a list. Its worked example, "iphone (15,16) -(pro,max) +unlocked", replaces four searches with one. On top of that it filters by price floor and ceiling, condition, location and category, and each search can be limited to certain hours. Version notes add a Make Offer listing type, seller blocking, alerts on everything a specific seller lists, and a business-or-individual seller filter for European marketplaces.

eSnipe filters each monitor by price range, condition, listing type (auction or Buy It Now) and negative keywords. That covers the exclusions most resellers need, and it is editable on a web dashboard rather than only on a phone. What it lacks is the grouped-term, required-word and exact-phrase operators, location filtering, and quiet hours. If your searches are complex enough to need parentheses, Dealerts will express them and eSnipe will not.

Dealerts delivers "a push notification the moment a matching item is listed, with the photo and price already in it", to iPhone, iPad, Apple-silicon Macs, Apple Vision and Android. Email, SMS and Discord are not listed. Its App Store description also lists watchlist alerts before an auction you are watching ends, which is a different kind of alert from a new-listing ping.

eSnipe delivers to a Discord webhook, chosen per monitor so each search can post into its own channel, and to phone push through the eSnipe app on iPhone and Android. There is no email or SMS, and no ending-soon reminder. For a solo buyer the phone notifications are comparable; for a group that shares finds, a Discord channel everyone can watch is something Dealerts does not offer.

Dealerts' site says a search takes "under a minute" to build: type the keywords, optionally narrow by price, condition, location and hours, choose how closely to watch it, and save. Swiping a search lets you test it against live results, pause it, edit it or delete it. Purchases and cancellations go through the App Store or Google Play.

eSnipe is similar in effort with one extra step if you want Discord: create a monitor with your keywords and filters on the web dashboard or in the app, then paste a Discord webhook URL or turn on push for that monitor. No eBay login, no card on file, nothing to cancel.

If a few of your searches are genuinely time-critical and the rest are broad, a sensible split is to put those few on Dealerts' 30-second premium tier and the long tail on eSnipe, where a hundred one-minute monitors cost nothing and can land in a Discord channel your group watches. Because eSnipe is free and uncapped, adding it beside Dealerts costs nothing and shows you quickly whether the paid interval is earning its keep.
