eSnipe vs Flipify: a fair comparison for deal hunters

Flipify's homepage says it "monitors Facebook Marketplace, eBay, OfferUp, and more around the clock, then alerts you when a new deal appears". The audience is the flipper who buys locally and online, wants one watchlist app across eight marketplaces, and is used to paying a few dollars a month per search for that convenience. Its eBay page adds sold-price comparisons and deal ratings so that each alert carries a hint of whether the price is good.

eSnipe covers eBay only, and it covers it for free. It watches public eBay search results and sends a message the moment a matching listing appears, to a Discord channel via webhook or to your phone through its iOS and Android app. It does not bid, snipe or buy, never asks for an eBay login, and puts no cap on how many monitors you run.

The choice usually comes down to breadth versus depth. If eBay is one of several sources, Flipify's breadth is the point. If eBay is the source, eSnipe gives you the fast tier on every search without a subscription.

Flipify is explicit about its intervals, which makes this comparison easy. A Premium watchlist "checks every minute" and, on the eBay page, scans "every 60 seconds". A Basic watchlist checks every 10 minutes. The site describes Premium as best for competitive items that sell quickly and Basic as fine for broader, less time-sensitive searches.

eSnipe's fastest check interval is also one minute, and it applies to every monitor rather than only a paid tier. Most alerts arrive within about 15 to 45 seconds of a listing going live. On eBay, then, the two are on a similar footing at the top end; the difference is that eSnipe's top end costs nothing and Flipify's costs $10 per watchlist per month, while Flipify's cheaper Basic tier is ten times slower than either.

Neither site publishes independent benchmarks, and both are polling services rather than direct feeds, so real-world timing depends on when a listing indexes and when the next check lands. If you are chasing items that sell in under a minute, expect the occasional miss from any tool in this category.

Flipify's primary channel is push notification through its own app, and the eBay page adds "push notifications, SMS texts, or both" plus a line describing "Push, SMS & email notifications". If you want a text message on your phone rather than an app notification, Flipify is the one of the two that offers it. Flipify's site links a Discord server for community and support, but does not list Discord as a delivery channel for alerts.

eSnipe delivers to two places: a Discord webhook, chosen per monitor so each search can post to its own channel, and phone push through the eSnipe app on iPhone and Android. There is no SMS or email. For a solo buyer the push notifications are roughly equivalent; for a group, a Discord channel that everyone can watch and react to is something Flipify does not list.

Both apps support negative keywords, and Flipify's example is the same one every reseller learns the hard way: "-broken -parts -locked". Flipify also lists a price range, condition, and location or radius filters, and its homepage mentions "AI-assisted filtering to reduce noisy matches". Location filtering matters a lot for Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist pickups and is a genuine advantage if that is how you buy.

eSnipe filters by price range, condition, listing type (auction or Buy It Now) and negative keywords, per monitor, with no limit on how many monitors or terms you create. Listing type is the notable extra: eBay buyers often want Buy It Now only, or auctions ending soon, and Flipify's site does not list a listing-type filter. eSnipe has no location filter because eBay listings ship; if you need local pickup only, Flipify is the better fit.

Flipify charges per watchlist: a Basic watchlist is $5 per month with a 10-minute scan interval and a Premium watchlist is $10 per month with a 1-minute interval, in US dollars, and you can adjust your mix at any time. The free trial lasts seven days, includes one Basic and one Premium watchlist, and requires a payment method. Its help centre lists questions about changing subscriptions and refunds, but the answers were not visible in the page content we read, so we do not summarise them here.

eSnipe is free with no tiers, no per-monitor pricing and no trial that expires. It is funded through the eBay Partner Network, which pays a commission when a purchase follows an alert link; the price you pay on eBay does not change. eSnipe is not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay.

The arithmetic is simple. Three eBay searches at Flipify's Premium speed cost $30 a month; the same three monitors on eSnipe cost nothing and check at the same one-minute interval. Where Flipify earns its fee is the other seven marketplaces, SMS, and the location filter, none of which eSnipe offers.

Flipify's setup is app-first: install it from the App Store or Google Play (or open the web app), start the trial, create a watchlist with your search terms, price range and filters, and choose push, SMS or both. Its site says core alerts work without linking a marketplace account.

eSnipe is similar in effort, with one extra step if you want Discord: create a monitor with your keywords and filters, then either paste a Discord webhook URL or install the phone app and turn on push for that monitor. No eBay login, no card on file.

If you buy from local marketplaces and eBay, a sensible split is to put your Facebook Marketplace, OfferUp and Craigslist searches on Flipify, where its location filter and multi-marketplace coverage do the work, and to put your eBay searches on eSnipe so every one of them runs at the one-minute interval for free. That keeps the Flipify bill to the watchlists that genuinely need it.

Because eSnipe is free and uncapped, adding it beside Flipify costs nothing, and it is an easy way to find out whether the eBay side of your sourcing needs a paid tool at all.
